Pneumonia vaccine

Public Health encourages protective measures such as, pneumonia shot (click here for pnuemonia vaccination recommendations), hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes among all.

We recommended that all individuals who fall into the high risk group listed below, get a flu vaccination. Please contact your healthcare provider for your flu shot. A new recommendation this year is that children aged 5-18 years should receive a flu shot. Children in this age range are more apt to get the flu and spread it to other individuals, including those who are at high risk for influenza-related complications. If you do not have a provider, Shasta County Public Health will be providing flu shots by appointment at all regional office locations. Or, you can attend one of the flu shot clinics in your local area. Please call 225-5591 for more information.

High-risk groups:

  • Adults 50 and older;
  • Persons aged 5-49 years with chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart or lung disease, or asthma;
  • Women who will be pregnant during the flu season;
  • All children aged 6 months to 18 years;
  • Healthcare workers involved in direct patient care;
  • Residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities;
  • Children aged 6 months - 18 years on chronic aspirin therapy
  • Caregivers and household contacts of children under 6 months of age and anyone with high risk conditions.

Shasta County Public Health cares about all our residents and visitors, especially the most vulnerable. Please visit the links below for additional information about the flu that may be helpful to you.
